What you're going to see

Sevilla

  • Real Alcázar

The Water Gardens of Dorne, seat of House Martell. It is a living monument and heavily visited: timed tickets sell out days ahead in season.

  • Itálica (Santiponce)

The Roman amphitheatre that plays the Dragonpit in seasons seven and eight. It is 9 km from the centre and reachable by city bus.

  • Casa de Pilatos

Its Mudéjar courtyards were also used as Dornish interiors. It sits right in the centre and usually has far less of a queue than the Alcázar.

  • Plaza de toros de Osuna

The fighting pits of Daznak in Meereen, where Drogon rescues Daenerys. Osuna is 90 km away: a half-day trip from Seville.

  • Barrio de Santa Cruz

The lanes beside the Alcázar where the Dornish exteriors were shot. They are free to walk at any hour.

Córdoba

  • Puente Romano

The Long Bridge of Volantis. Cross it at dawn, when nobody is about and the Mosque is backlit.

  • Castillo de Almodóvar del Río

Highgarden, seat of the Tyrells, and Casterly Rock in some shots. It is 25 km out and visible from the road long before you arrive.

  • Mezquita-Catedral

It does not appear in the series, but it stands a hundred metres from the Roman Bridge and is the reason Córdoba is a stop at all. Free entry first thing on weekday mornings.

  • Torre de la Calahorra

The defensive tower on the far side of the Roman Bridge, and where the wide shots of the bridge were filmed from.

Girona

  • Escalinata de la Catedral

The Great Sept of Baelor. The 90 steps are the ones Cersei descends at her trial, and you climb them without a ticket because the square is public.

  • El Call, barrio judío

The narrow streets that stand in for Braavos. It is one of the best-preserved medieval Jewish quarters in Europe.

  • Baños Árabes

The House of Black and White where Arya trains with the Faceless Men. It is ticketed and small: half an hour is enough.

  • Sant Pere de Galligants

The Romanesque monastery that appears as the exterior of the Citadel of Braavos. Today it houses the archaeological museum.

  • Passeig de la Muralla

The walkway along the top of the Carolingian wall, with the views the wide shots of Braavos were filmed from.
