What you're going to see

Rüdesheim

  • Drosselgasse

Two hundred metres of alley with live music in every wine tavern. It is kitsch and knows it: it has been so since the fifteenth century.

  • Teleférico al Niederwalddenkmal

It floats over the vineyards up to the Germania monument. From the top you see the whole bend of the Rhine.

  • Crucero por el valle medio

The stretch between Rüdesheim and Koblenz is a World Heritage site: 65 km with more than 40 castles in view.

  • Riesling de las laderas

The vines sit on slopes of up to 70%, are picked by hand, and that is why this wine costs what it costs.

Coblenza

  • Deutsches Eck

The spit where the Moselle meets the Rhine. You see the two rivers in different colours before they mix.

  • Fortaleza de Ehrenbreitstein

One of the largest fortresses in Europe, on 118 metres of rock. You go up by cable car across the Rhine.

  • Castillo de Stolzenfels

A medieval ruin the king of Prussia rebuilt in the nineteenth century in romantic Gothic, with gardens by Lenné.

  • Marksburg

The only castle in the Rhine valley never destroyed. Everything you see inside is original, not reconstructed.

  • El peñón de Loreley

132 metres above the narrowest and deepest point of the Rhine. The legend of the maiden who sank boats with her song comes from the real currents here.

Colonia

  • Catedral de Colonia

632 years of building, finished in 1880. It holds the shrine of the Three Kings and survived the war surrounded by rubble.

  • Subir a la torre sur

533 spiral steps up to 97 metres. There is no lift and the stairway is one-way in places.

  • Cervecerías de Kölsch

The local beer is served in 0.2-litre glasses and the waiter keeps replacing it, unasked, until you put your beer mat on top of the glass.

  • Museo del Chocolate

On the bank of the Rhine, with a working factory and a three-metre chocolate fountain. It works with children and without.
